About Me
Hi, I’m Becky.
I’m self-taught baker and university-taught nutritionist (though I don’t often use that term since it doesn’t really mean anything). In other words, I have been baking and cooking since I was teen; and I got a Bachelor’s in Nutrition Education along the way.
I believe in fruits, vegetables, and freshly ground whole wheat. I also believe in balance, and that sugar can be good for your mental health.
I’m married with three awesome daughters. They (the husband and the kids) are my biggest fans and my pickiest critics.
For as long as I can remember I have wanted to bake for others. I have spent years making things for parties, my husband’s coworkers, and lucky family members who live nearby. My sister’s family has a running joke that if the door bell rings when they aren’t expecting anyone, it must be Becky bringing some treats.
I’ve won local cupcake competitions and Best in Show county fair ribbons, but decided it was finally time to take this a little further. I realized I didn’t need a store front to start my journey, and a Home Bakery was the perfect fit for me.
Why Munchkin’s?
I am the youngest of 5 kids, and from a very young age, my oldest sister called me munchkin. Partially because I was so much younger (and therefore smaller) than her. Partially because that is what Uncle Jesse called Michelle on Full House.
I took the nickname to heart, I have used it in my e-mail addresses, wrote it as 2nd middle name on my notebooks in Jr. High, and basically just kept it as part of my identity. Since I stayed relatively short, I feel the name still fits and enjoy using it to this day.
Thanks for being here. I hope I can make something delicious for you.
